Multi Construction – Leon Blanchard

Multi construction is a painting made up of multiple oil washes applied on top of a black background, with its construction lines still left in, with the reason being I felt I could not do any more to it without overworking it and compromising what I wanted it to become.  I was originally going to use an acrylic base coat, but I was intending to allow more of the black background to come through and in particular to create the colour blue which is used within blueprints and architectural maps. I choose to paint this building, as I love the angle at which I took my research photo; Originally it was a photograph I took for some wax etchings a few years earlier.
