Sunset at Richmond Hill – Leon Blanchard

This piece is depicting a view of Richmond Hill, this scene has also been used in the past by other artists such as Turner. The painting was entered into a local art competition by one of my tutors at the time without my knowledge or consent for scenes of the borough of Richmond in which it won first prize. I find it interesting comparing this painting to more recent work, especially finding similarities in this work which correlates to others and using these patterns in my work to distinguish my style; As in this painting I didn’t plan it out at all, but still there are similarities I find in my current work which exist in this painting.
