Riding The Artery’s- Pinhole Photography – Alex Shaw

Riding the artery’s is partially a continuation of my studies and theories on the urban environment and the potentially detrimental affect it can have on human civilization. When I was in the process of taking these images I felt like I was in a different state of mind, I was out of touch with our human reality, rather I was travelling through a living breathing organism of which we are only single cells.

I traveled mainly through the tube lines as if within the artery’s and organs of this great beast fueled and kept alive purely by our consumption and our desire for everything to be consistently bigger, better and more glamorous. This monster is like a cancer on the face of our planet slowly eating away at something that was in existences long before we were here and will still be floating through space long after we are all dead.
